Research check on simulation technologies

The research grant entitled ‘Development and validation of new advanced simulation technologies for the training and planning of diagnostic and operational interventions in medicine’ is of two years and is funded from PO_FSE funds 2014/2020.

The activities aim to train a new professional figure with multidisciplinary skills (e.g. medicine, bioengineering, robotics, computer science) and to take a first step towards a path that leads the SimAV to be a provider of innovative technological solutions and a promoter of cutting-edge research in the field of advanced simulation in medicine, with particular attention to the user-specific needs

The specific objectives are:

- develop patient-specific solutions that allow the physician to carry out invasive examinations and surgeries after planning and testing the intervention repeatedly in simulation;

- develop Virtual/Augmented Reality solutions designed specifically for medical training;

- build low-cost, portable prototypes that meet the specific needs of users that are not satisfactory with commercially available solutions.
