Outpatient emergency course for the private pediatrician

The Outpatient Emergency Course for Private Pediatricians will be held on Saturday, October 18th at the SimAv.

Child care in the community is being hampered by the progressive depletion of medical and healthcare personnel, especially in peripheral facilities, which places additional strain on central facilities. In this context, the recognition and immediate treatment of acute pediatric conditions, the identification, stabilization, initial treatment, the use of telemedicine, and the eventual transport of pediatric patients in emergencies are becoming increasingly important, necessitating the development of common guidelines for all providers.

The pandemic has highlighted the fragility of the current health service, both at the hospital and regional levels, particularly underscoring the difficulty of communication between the peripheral and central areas. In this regard, the PNRR (M6 C1 – investment 2) has identified resources for the development of Community Homes and Community Hospitals to adequately meet the needs of young patients.

The course's goal is to provide the appropriate tools to address the demand for specific skills through a training program based on the immediate application of acquired knowledge, leveraging the educational potential and technology of medium- and high-fidelity simulation, both individually and in teamwork. Specifically, the course aims to:

  • improve knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic pathways for the treatment of pathologies and any pediatric emergencies;
  • improve resuscitation, stabilization, and therapeutic approaches to critically ill children;
  • improve teamwork and teambuilding techniques.

The course will be taught by instructors from SIMEUP (Italian Society of Pediatric Emergency Medicine).
