The PCTO website was designed and built following the WCAG 2.1 guidelines set by the W3C WAI international standard, consistent with the WCAG 2.1 - Level AA accessibility requirements.
Furthermore, the checkpoints of the Guidelines on the Accessibility of IT Tools released on December 20, 2019 by the AGID (Italian Agency for Information Technology) have been implemented and applied, in accordance with Legislative Decree No. 106 of August 10, 2018, which implemented EU Directive 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
The principles that guided the creation of the portal were defined on the basis of the WAI W3C guidelines, among the main ones:
- only the technologies specified in the W3C guidelines have been used for each visual content content has been provided that, when presented to the user, essentially performs the same function or achieves the same purpose as the original content
- We didn't rely solely on colors, so the text and graphics are understandable even when viewed without color.
- markup and style sheets have been used appropriately
- The layout has been designed and guarantees independence from various devices (linked to the responsive mode)
- Clear and consistent navigation mechanisms have been designed and provided in order to increase the likelihood that a person will be able to find what they are looking for on the portal
Regarding semantics, a manual check was performed on all main pages and all the various templates used.
The site was also designed following W3C standards for CSS3 and HTML5, making it cross-browser and responsive to various mobile device resolutions.
The portal is accessible via keyboard and screenreaders such as VoiceOver and NVDA.
