First Aid Courses

The University of Genoa is the first Italian university accredited to carry out “First Aid” health training and refresher courses and “Medical Care” (Ministry of Health prot. no. 0017367-P of 07/06/2018). The unique feature of the course lies in the ability to perform first aid actions with high realism in a simulation center.

The topics covered in a total of 24 hours of training, divided between lectures and practical exercises conducted using simulation techniques, are: the first aid kit and basic first aid concepts, medical assistance interventions to be adopted in the event of a rescue, with particular reference to those to be carried out in the event of drowning, the procedures necessary for requesting medical assistance via radio, for transporting the sick by helicopter, or for providing medical care to seafarers in collaboration with port authorities. The digital portion of the training material is made available to students on the University's e-learning platform, in the section dedicated to the Center.
