PCTO project with the G.D.Cassini high school (2020)

SimAv's first PCTO project for the G.D. Cassini scientific high school in Genoa began in February 2020.

The use of simulation in first aid allows for the creation of Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation (PCTO, formerly known as School-Work Alternation), which, as required by current legislation, establish a mandatory number of hours of activity for secondary school students from grade 3 onwards.

The group of high school students is offered the opportunity to use high-fidelity medical simulation technologies, to simulate an outpatient environment with medium and low-fidelity tools up to low-fidelity surgery exercises, to visit the joint laboratory with the DIBRIS.

Specifically, the training program, through lectures and simulation exercises, will address emergency/urgent topics such as wound dressing, stitching, hand washing, monitoring vital signs, first aid, burn treatment, and first aid in the event of drowning, poisoning, and drug use. The afternoon of February 13th will be dedicated to the course. "Bleeding Control Basic".

Due to the health emergency and the suspension of activities at SimAv, the initial 16-hour project was concluded early as only the activities on February 3rd took place and not those scheduled for March 2nd-4th.
