Within the pilot project "Interdisciplinary School-Work Alternation Project of the University", presented at the Salone Orientamenti 2018 from the Genoese Institute Champagnat, From the MIUR and the University of Genoa, SimAV has created a high-level training course using simulation technology.
Through lectures and simulation exercises, students will be given the opportunity to use high-fidelity medical simulation technologies, simulate an outpatient setting with medium- and low-fidelity tools, and even perform basic surgical exercises. They will be introduced to a simulated hospital environment to study virtual cases on the computer.
Specifically, the training plan includes addressing emergency/urgent topics on February 13th and 15th, such as:
- the organization of territorial emergencies (112/118 central);
- the emergency kit, wound dressing, stitching, hand washing;
- monitoring of vital signs;
- first aid CPR BLS-D;
- management of bleeding (Bleeding Course);
- burn treatment;
- rescue in cases of drowning, intoxication and drug use, and trauma.
During the second day, the boys followed the "Bleeding Control Basic" course, obtaining the certification.
The multidisciplinary project, implemented through a framework that involves various University departments and their diverse expertise, is a precursor to a new concept of School-Work Alternation. It is part of the ASL projects of the Center, started in 2019.
